What this is

Copernicus DEM GLO-30 is a 30m digital elevation model derived from radar data, released in 2021, with near-global coverage. Available as cloud-optimized GeoTIFFs (COGs) via AWS, OpenTopography, and Google Earth Engine.

Why we surface it

Slope, aspect, and drainage routing matter for erosion, runoff, drainage planning, and yield prediction in non-flat terrain. Copernicus DEM GLO-30 is newer than SRTM and more consistently processed across tiles.
