Crop● In map2021 global map; ongoing through end-2026

ESA WorldCereal 10m (ESA Consortium)

The first open global cropland and crop-type map at 10m — and an on-demand system to run your own analysis.

What this is

ESA WorldCereal maps global cropland extent and crop type (maize, winter cereals, spring cereals) at 10m from Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2. The 2021 global map is published; more crop types and years are in production through end-2026. Available via download portal, GEE (`ESA_WorldCereal`), and openEO. License CC-BY-4.0.

Why we surface it

Answers two questions at once: is this cropland, and what crop type? Pairs naturally with FTW field boundaries — boundaries say where the fields are; WorldCereal says what's in them.

What you can do with it

Republish a derivative
Build on it and republish freely, commercial or not. You must credit the original source in what you ship.
Build into a private product
Fine to build into a closed or commercial product. Attribution is still owed wherever the data is actually exposed to users.

This decoder is a starting point, not legal advice. For commercial deployment, run the actual license terms past someone who reads them for a living.
