PRISM US climate (Oregon State / NACSE)
The finest-grain US climate grids — temperature and precipitation at both 4km and 800m, both free as of March 2025.
What this is
PRISM produces high-resolution climate surfaces for the contiguous US: temperature, precipitation, dewpoint. As of March 2025, both the 4km and 800m time series and 30-year normals are free to the public with attribution under PRISM's custom Terms of Use. License note: PRISM operates under custom Terms of Use — it is NOT a CC license. The free tier allows use with attribution for research, education, and non-commercial applications; commercial redistribution of PRISM data or derived products may require a separate agreement with Oregon State. Read the PRISM terms at prism.oregonstate.edu/terms before any commercial integration.
Why we surface it
Where Daymet is the public-domain option, PRISM is the one US researchers cite for precision. As of March 2025, both the 4km and 800m time series are freely usable with attribution. UFFDA surfaces both.

This decoder is a starting point, not legal advice. For commercial deployment, run the actual license terms past someone who reads them for a living.
Parked
800m time series became free as of March 2025 (was previously fee-gated). Parked pending a clear user need and a scoped integration; the free-tier blocker is resolved.
